PUSPANITA BAKING & PASTRY COURSE PART 1 on 12th OCTOBER 2010

Salam Once Again, Dear Friends!

Today's blog post is on Chef Baini's first assignment by a public institution:
PUSPANITA (that's an acronym for a women's society)
by the
JABATAN BELIA DAN SUKAN, WILAYAH PERSEKUTUAN
(the Department of Youth and Sports, Kuala Lumpur, Federal Territory)
of Malaysia.

SO YOU CAN UNDERSTAND WHY CHEF BAINI MIGHT BE LITTLE NERVOUS!
(Understandably, Chef Baini roped in Chef Rohaya to assist her today!)

Once Chef and company found the facility, it was straight to work,
preparing for the class!

Being a public institution, standing on ceremony is a must! The host has prepared a welcome banner for all the participants!

Of course, as you might have expected, the programme today started right on the clock. The class was a basic introduction to baking, with simple, time-honoured recipes of comfort food confections and pastries. However, as all of you will know, baking may look easy though it may be otherwise! All of you who can bake must have learned the craft from someone, most likely from your own mom!

To cut a long story short, here are the pictures of class in session:

Chef Baini secretly beams with pride every time she lays her eyes on her students hard at work, for she knows full well that the students will achieve success from all the effort that they put in, though some later than sooner but that's quite all right!

Chef Baini feels that sometimes, what must be showcased is the human aspect of baking, not just the end product. Those who taste the results will know that true love went into the making. So Chef Baini wondered: If she were to hang up a picture in her living room of her students at work, instead of the usual pretty pictures of the cakes, how will that fare? What will it look like? Hmmm...

Here's a picture of Chef Baini's living room:
Pretty boring isn't it? The orange wall definitely needs something...
Now let's hang a large picture of Chef Baini's students at work on that same wall....

Would it look like something like this, perhaps?

Chef Baini thinks it'll look great! What do you think?

A beautiful portrait as any to adorn the wall of any living room!
So at the end of the class, which halted at precisely 4.30 pm on the dot, here are the achievements of the participants:

All in all, Chef Baini had a great experience today. It was her first teaching assignment at a public insitution and Chef certainly hoped it would not be her last! Plus it was made a lot easier with the helpful hands (and legs) of Chef Rohaya! What a pal!

Oops! Forgot to mention: this is Part 1. Part 2 of this course will follow a week later. Look for it, coming to a blog near you very soon!

Love, Chef Baini.

P.S.
Chef Baini has decided to be a little more 'experimental' with the images of her blog posts from now on, and she hopes that you like them.  If you would like to shoot her some comments, please let Chef Baini know. Chef Baini values any feedback from all her readers.
