CUPCAKE HANTARAN CLASS AT BAGUS BAKERY BUKIT TINGGI on May 8th, 2011

As promised in the last blog, Chef Baini is back with the second part of the Cupcake Hantaran weekend. Yesterday's class was at the Bagus Bakery Kajang, while today's class was at the Bagus Bakery in Bukit Tinggi, Klang. Yesterday's blog was perhaps too short and did not elaborate enough on the Norbaini Cakes experience. So today, Chef Baini decided to be a little more inclusive and detailed so all her blog friends can see and appreciate what goes on in a Norbaini Cakes class!

First, there were 13 or so attendees for yesterday's class, which is a good number. Not too many, not too few. So Chef Baini can pay her students the attention that they deserve. Hopefully at the end of the class, we will get beautiful cupcakes! Well, lets read on until the end of today's blog post to see what happened, OK?

At the start of the class, once the introductions are done, Chef Baini usually begins with a short lecture on what the class will be all about. She will ask if anyone among the crowd has had prior experience with today's subject and almost always, there are one or two.

Then the action starts right away, with Chef Baini demonstrating each step of today's subject (that is the Cupcake Hantaran).Everyone crowds around the head table to see Chef Baini's instructions first hand.....
Naturally there will be a few questions, but questions are always welcome! Now the subject matter is broken up over a series of steps, so the demonstrations at the head  table run a few times....

After each demonstration of the various steps, the students return to their seats to have a go at it themselves. Some prefer to stand while they are doing it, some prefer to sit down while they do their work. Why some choose to stand while others choose to sit is a question Chef Baini never bothered to ask! Like the saying goes : Whatever floats your boat! Or in the case of this class : Whatever bakes your cakes!

That is when Chef Baini makes her rounds to evaluate the progress of the students. Of course she intervenes to elaborate more precisely on the instructions she had given earlier. Sometimes the students will ask to see if, in the opinion of Chef Baini, they are doing it correctly.

Sometimes the students help each other out. To Chef Baini, that is something really wonderful for it has always been her belief that knowledge is meant to be shared.

There are instances when some students require Chef Baini to explain a little more than usual. And that is perfectly normal especially when the student has no prior exposure to the subject. Chef Baini will explain as much as possible so that all her students will understand the subject thoroughly. Chef Baini will make sure that the Norbaini Cakes experience is every penny's worth the price of the admission ticket!

As you can see from the plethora of pictures, there's a lot going on before we get to finish the cupcakes. Chef Baini deliberately took many pictures of today's class to illustrate to you, dear reader, of the human factor: Cakes (and cupcakes) are fashioned by the hands but in fact, are made from the heart. And it shows, evidently enough! Have a look at the results of the hard work that went om in today's class.....

Remember, Chef Baini does not dictate the designs. Chef Baini teaches you the techniques, guides you on how the cupcake is to be done but ultimately, it is you who decides what your creation will look like. The cupcakes are made from your heart; there are unique as are you.

Strangely, Chef Baini has never given the Cupcake designs names. She thinks that's a little overdoing things a bit! But you are welcome to give you unique creations names of their own! Why not! Why not brand you own creations!

You can see for yourself the wide variety of styles (and colours) of the cupcakes. The possibilities of designs are endless. But the class is not, and so we have come to the end of this blog post! Chef Baini hopes that this blog explains the Norbaini Cakes a lot better than the previous one, and that you had as much fun reading today's post as the rest!

That's all for today, dear friends! Until next time, take care and love always!

XOXO

Chef Baini.
