SUGARBOX HOMECLASS on MARCH 12, 2011

You must be wondering at first, but can guess very quickly what the Merdeka Club was all about....today's friends are 3 Kakak or elder sister who dropped in to learn about Sugarboxes. Now you know that this year Malaysia celebrates her 54th birthday, and so all three Kakaks are about that age! Now if Malaysia was a person, next year she would be eligible to withdraw her savings from the Employee's Provident Fund!

Chef Baini apologises for this overexposed picture. Today's Kakaks are
1)Kak Lin, 2)Kak Mariam and 3)Kak Habsah

Although we are far away from Independence Day, lets just look back to yesteryear when Malaysia (or the Federation of Malaya as it was originally known) was born..... The above picture is the famous moment when Malaysia's first Prime Minister proclaimed independence for the country.
He proclaimed :"Merdeka! Merdeka! Merdeka!"
Interestingly, YBM Tunku Abdul Rahman proclaimed 'Merdeka' three times....

The same number of Kakaks who came today....
Just coincidence or something more? Hmmm.....

Here is a picture of Dataran Merdeka (or Merdeka Square) today....

The same square as it was almost 54 years ago......

And the Stadium where the proclamation was made....
Well, these three ladies were just babies during that time...
Just look at them today!

Here is Kak Habsahgently stamping away....

Next to her is Kakak Mariamwho crafted her own
sugarboxes is a no less dignified manner....

Probably the stateliest style award goes to
Kakak Lin below!

And here are their work, just 5 hours 40 minutes later!

This one is by Kak Lin

Kakak Habsah did this....

And finally, this last set was done by Kakak Mariam

Its something else to conduct a class with three sporting Kakaks;
Chef Baini truly enjoyed them coming over!
They'll be back again, Insya'allah!

That's all for the Merdeka Club post, dear friends!

See you again real soon!

Love always,

Chef Baini

HOMECLASS - SUGARBOXES

Salam Friends!

Today Chef Baini taught Sugar Boxes.
As you know, Sugar Boxes are decorative little containers that make great holders for hantarans.
The shape, colour and form of these boxes are up to the imagination of their creators. They are fun and easy to do, for you only have to make 7, 9 or 11 to make a set for hantarans.
Thus they don't take very much time to do.

So for today's blog, Chef Baini will focus on the participants and their accomplishments straight away!
Today's module was 3 flower themes, 1 ribbon theme and 1 baby theme.

Lets get to it, shall we? First, there's.....

Roza

Next is....
Kak Amy

Of course, then there is....
Suhaila

After her is...
Nenek Timah
(by the way folks, Nenek Timah is Chef Baini's Grand-Aunt! Honest!)

Last but not least is...
Ida

Now, what to fill these boxes are anybody's choices.
Some people put in chocolates; Ferrero Roches fit very well.
Some put in sweets, gourmet chocolates,
fancy dates (you know, the ones with the roasted almond embedded within them).

It's up to you!
However, if you were to receive them yourself one day, remember that these are made of sugar, and are therefore edible. Chef Baini recommends crushing them into small, small pieces and sprinkling them with chopped nuts on ice-cream!

Love, Chef Baini.

SUGARBOX HOMECLASS SUNDAY 07/03/2010

Salam, Everyone!

Chef Baini is back again with more sugarboxes.....
Some students returned for more advanced teaching, but most were newbies to my home.
Old or new, everyone's welcome!

Looks like people like doing sugarboxes because it is their personal expression or in other words, artwork!

Like this one, for example....(by Mazlina - by the way, check out her blog http.//atlinaslittlecottage.blogspot.com) ...its the first one by one of my students to go for a jewelbox theme! Very creative and beautifully done, don't you agree?

Check out the artists at work below!

You guessed it! Chatting away while hands get busy make the day go by so much nicer!
They may look so much alike, but no, they are definitely not twins!

You may have noticed that I am using work tables in my homeclasses now. However, some suggested that air -conditioning would also be desireable! Insya'allah......
